Flew Away tells the story of a man named Henry, who has adopted a lifestyle of odd jobs and passive detachment, and his relationship with Kelly, a woman who has survived a bad marriage and may barely be able to survive him. The book documents their struggles together on the rugged Massachusetts seashore.

David Paradis grew up in Scituate, Massachusetts, and went to Boston College and The University of Iowa, where he was in the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. He is the founder of the literary journal Pequod, which he published and edited for ten years. Work of his has been published in Triquarterly and The Massachusetts Review.

He is an amateur jazz drummer and frequently gets together with musician-friends to jam. He lives in New York City and Truro, Massachusetts, with his wife Daisy.
